    Greetings:

It would be really helpful if it were possible to do searches/sorts with echo-mail and files areas. It gets rather tedious having to scroll page after page looking for a particular group or file. Basically, if it's a list, you should be able to search/sort it.

I'm not sure what this has to do with an updated wiki article but ok.

Try DDMsgReader. It should be in xtrn. The ability to search an echo is
already available. IN the default menu it's "F" for "Find text in
    messages".

My bad. I should've started a new topic. I figured just changing the Subject line would be sufficient.

Try DDMsgReader. It should be in xtrn. The ability to search an echo is already available. IN the default menu it's "F" for "Find text in
    messages".

This isn't about the messages themselves, I know that part. This is about the group listings and the file areas. E.g., FIDONET has page after page of groups and they're in no particular order, which makes it tedious to find a particular item.

OK, I guess I wasn't being specific enough. Yep, the "/" and "N" are listed in the help screen, and the command bar for looking up msg. areas, and they do work. However, if you don't have a keyword in mind, it would still be useful to be able to sort the list in various ways.

The area I ment to focus on was the Message Scan Configuration (&,S). I needed to switch off a number of FIDOnet groups and the random manner in which they're listed made it quite tedious.

You can do that too, with the latest version that I committed to the repo recently. My area choosers now have a user settings dialog which you can open with Ctrl-U; in there, there's an option for sorting. That was released just over a week ago, so it's possible that sysops don't have that yet if they haven't updated recently.

I think I know what you're referring to. I'm fairly certain most people import from a FIDONET.NA list, in which the /echotags/ are listed alphabetically. However, the long names displayed on most BBS's for the echo are most definitely not.

what the fuck we have an actual user?!!

You should msg your sysop and tell him to make his msg listings more user friendly. too many sysops want to cram in 1000 msg echos and 1000 doorgames and do everything to the max without thinking about the user experience.

if you're complaining about the msg listings having abbreviated names for the msg subs i totally agree with how it sucks. the sysop can clean that up for you.
